Public Q&A for Police Chief FinalistGlynn County's sole finalist for the Chief of Police position will be available to answer pre-screened questions from citizens on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 6pm in the Brunswick-Glynn County Library Conference Room located at 208 Gloucester St. Relevant questions can be submitted of sixty words or less, for the Police Chief finalist can be submitted in advance to mkent@glynncounty-ga.gov by Monday, June 14, 2021 at 9am.
Mr. Battiste retired as a Special Agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after 22-years working from Washington D.C. specializing in counter-terrorism in the U.S and abroad, special events security, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and hazardous devise response. After leaving the FBI, he served as Chief of Police for Xavier University of Louisiana and is currently serving as a Deputy Constable and Training and Tactical Coordinator for the Orleans Constables Office in New Orleans. Mr. Battiste has obtained Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Political Science from the Xavier University of Louisiana and a Juris Doctorate from Southern University and A&M College.
The Board of Commissioners selected Mr. Battiste as the finalist based on his vast experience in law enforcement and management. He is currently a member of multiple modern law enforcement associations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) which provided a management and operations study that has laid a blueprint for regaining certification and served as FBI representative to the White House Task Force on 21st Century Policing, a major tenet of modern policing.

Economic Development in the Golden IslesAt the May 18th work session, the Board of Commissioners received an update from the Golden Isles Development Authority to review some of Fiscal Year (FY) 20-21's highlights and to see what the Development Authority has planned for the new FY. Among the highlights are $310 Million in new investments from two code-named projects announced in April 2021 and increased talent recruitment through websites like www.WorkFromGlynn.com, and the job portal www.KeepGlynnRunning.com. The future holds more industrial park development to incentivize growth by major companies to the region. Hurricane Season PreparednessThankfully, Glynn County wasn't hit by any potential hurricanes last season. However, with a new season among us, as of June 1st, it's time for each and everyone one of us to make sure we are prepared for any potential storms that may impact our coastal area. The waters in the Atlantic Ocean are warmer that normal at this point in the year and warm, deep waters are fuel for hurricanes.
In order to be well informed for threat upcoming hurricane season, keep an eye on the County website, the Emergency Management Facebook, and the National Hurricane Center website. For emergency information during an event sent to your phone, sign up for CodeRED and for any questions at any time, you can call Glynn County Customer Service at (912) 554-7111.
To be well prepared for any storms, be sure to have a disaster kit ready to go, just in case the worst happens. A comprehensive list of emergency supplies can be found on www.Ready.gov/kit.

Board of Elections - Voter Education Never StopsIt may seem there are new elections headlines every day and you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed. We know our public has questions about new laws, voter registration, and upcoming dates. Don’t worry, the Board of Elections and Registration is here to help! The Board will be doing all we can to keep the public informed. At upcoming monthly meetings, they will discuss changes related to the new voting laws. Later this Fall, they will hold Poll Worker 101 introductory events and training workshops for third-party voter registration drives. Glynn County voters can also rely on our website and social media to keep them updated with the latest elections and voting news.
The 2021-2022 Voter’s Guides are now available. The guides include information about upcoming dates, how to use your My Voter Page, and answer important questions about new laws. Voter’s Guides can be downloaded from our website or you can pick up a copy from the Board of Elections office at 1815 Gloucester Street, Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm.

Employee Spotlight - Timothy BaneTimothy Bane is a level 1 Code Enforcement Officer within Community Development who says he has always enjoyed helping others in need, even as far back as his first job with the Panama City Fire Department in 1989 where he was promoted to Engineer before moving on.
Timothy has worked with Glynn County since December 2016 where he started in the Recreation and Parks department before becoming a code enforcement officer. He has completed the Georgia Association of Code Enforcement Level 1 Certification and hopes to continue that training. He as quite a few accomplishments to his name, personally and professionally, including a 1986 Sailor of the Quarter award from the Navy based in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, completing the Gulf Coast Triathlon, and of course his two awesome children.
Timothy says that his hobbies include camping, fishing, motorcycles, metal detecting, archery, cooking, and grilling which is a good reason why his favorite county memories are those of the employee picnics where it was it was "always great to see smiling faces and getting to meet other employees within other departments."
Community Development Director Pamela Thompson spoke highly of Timothy "Code Enforcement Officer Tim Bane is a vital part of the Community Development Team. He works proactively to clean up illegal dump sites. He is professional and friendly, offering advice to residents about options for cleaning up their neighborhoods and businesses. Tim is always willing to step up and help the county team any way needed."

Summer Junior Tennis Camps (Ages 4-14) Summer Tennis Camps for Juniors are held at Epworth Park. It’s that time again! Summer Reading 2021, here we come! Folks, it’s that time again! Where has the time gone? It’s time for beach trips, picnics, and Summer Reading! YAY! You can look up all the details at moglibraries.org or stop by either participating library. While you’re there, be sure to pick-up a fun Summer read! We’ve got everything from Captain Underpants, Ramona and Beezus, Judy Moody, Superfudge!, Eloise at the Plaza, and so many more! We might even have a book or two for you to read, Mom and Dad. J We’ll have lots of in-person programming, story times, and fun projects to keep everyone busy this year! And, did I mention prizes?
