Internships Available
Internships are available in the following departments for the upcoming academic Spring & Summer semesters. Please check back continuously, as new positions become available.
Human Resources Intern
The Human Resources Intern will be responsible for creating an Employee Reference Guide (Handbook) for county employees. This will include researching information to be included and preparing the booklet. The intern will assist with recruiting people to fill vacant positions within the Glynn County Government. This will include advertising positions, conducting tests and assessments and assisting with interviews. The Intern will assist in marketing programs for county employees to boost participation in benefit incentive programs on Weight Loss and Stress Management. The intern would gain experience in many areas of Human Resources Management.
County Attorney Intern
The Legal Intern is expected to assist in legal research, preparation of pleadings, legal documents, correspondence and reports, under the direction and supervision of the County Attorney. The intern will also assist in drafting resolutions, contracts, leases, deeds, county ordinance amendments and other legal documents and instruments. In addition, the intern will perform file reviews and legal research, cite checking and sherardizing both manually and through use of electronic resources such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw, to inform and make independent recommendation to County Attorney.
Public Information Office Intern
The Public Information Office Intern will assist with day to day responsibilities such as writing press releases, cultivating content for the County E-newsletter, administration of social media websites, and planning for special events as assigned. Applicants should be creative thinkers and should possess above average writing skills.
GIS Intern
The GIS Division Intern will assist GIS staff with data layer creation and maintenance. Possible layers include buildings, city/state/federal parks, inland water, parcels, and rail. The Intern will also assist staff with creating and updating metadata. The Intern will be responsible for assisting field crew with collection data using GPS equipment and mobile data collection and editing. The Intern will also assist with Hydrology Network support and previous/impervious surface layer editing.
Information Technology Intern
The Information Technology Intern would provide technical support such as installing and configuring PC’s, printers, communications equipment, and software. This would include assisting with software implementation and updates/upgrades. The Intern would be responsible for creating an inventory of computer equipment to include network equipment. The Intern would also assist with promoting, setting up and assisting with video conference to conduct conferences, meetings, and training. Intern may perform other Information Technology related tasks.
Recreation Department Intern
The Recreation Department Intern will assist in planning and promotional special events such as fishing tournaments. The Intern will also assist with promoting Blythe Island Regional Park and Campground and other local attractions. The Intern may also assist with other areas of Recreation such has coordinating athletic events, record keeping, and preparing various reports.
Clerk of State Court Intern
The Clerk of State Court Intern will attend State Court sessions for traffic court arraignments, non jury trials and jury trials. The Intern will have the opportunity to learn the process for misdemeanor and traffic cases from the start of a case to the conclusion. The Intern may also have the opportunity to view Superior Court felony criminal jury trials and criminal court proceedings as well as Superior Court Drug Court cases and civil proceedings. The Intern may also receive, enter, and docket traffic citation cases and perform other customer service and office duties.
