County Lawsuit Information - Coleman v. Glynn County (Scarlett-Williams)
CLASS LIST INFORMATION – AUGUST 27, 2020
In accordance with the Final Approval Order and Judgment (“Final Judgement”) entered in the Coleman v. Glynn County cases which can be found at https://glynncounty.org/DocumentCenter/View/64686/file-stamped-Final-Approval-Order-and-Judgment-110819, Larry Griggers and Gregg Reese, the Administrators appointed by the Court, have completed the confirmation of taxpayers entitled to refunds and individual refund calculations.
Under the Consent Judgment on Aggregate Refund and Order (“Consent Judgment”) which can be found at https://glynncounty.org/DocumentCenter/View/64685/file-stamped-Consent-Judgment-110819, the individual refund calculation is being posted on the County’s website in two lists under the headings “Class 1” and “Class 2”. Class Members on the Class 1 List either still own the listed parcel or have notified the Administrators of their new address. Class Members on the Class 2 List no longer own the listed parcel and have not notified the Administrators of their new address.
Taxpayers are encouraged to examine both lists to determine if they have been included as a Class Member. Taxpayers on the Class 1 List who do not object to the listed refund amount will be mailed their refund within thirty (30) days after the expiration of the forty-five (45) day objection period stated below.
Taxpayers who are not on either of the individual refund lists but believe that they are entitled to a refund must submit a Claim for Missing Class Members to Administrator Larry Griggers within forty-five (45) days from August 27, 2020, the date the Class Lists were posted to the website, using the following form: Claims form for Missing Class Members.
Taxpayers on the Class 2 List who no longer live at the same location for which the refund is owed will be required to submit the following form, Claims form for Category 2 Class Members, to Administrator Larry Griggers as provided in the Consent Judgment on Aggregate Refund and Order referenced above.
Class Members have forty-five (45) days from August 27, 2020, to file any objections with the Special Master, Rita Spalding, about individual refund amounts, as set forth in the Consent Judgment. Objecting Class Members may submit the following form to the Administrators and the Special Master: Objection form for Class Members
Upon completion of the claims process and resolution of any objections to the individual refund calculations, the Administrators will deliver the final list of those entitled to refunds and the amounts to the Coleman Qualified Settlement Fund Administrator who will issue refund checks within thirty (30) days of receipt of the final list.
