Glynn County Website Accessibility Policy
Purpose of the Policy
Glynn County is committed to providing employees and the public, including individuals with disabilities, access to Web-based information and services either directly through the Web or through alternative channels.
This document outlines the Web Accessibility Policy for Glynn County in its continued commitment to provide equal access to government services for individuals with disabilities.
Scope of this Policy
This policy applies to all Glynn County website content managed by County agencies, departments, offices or external service providers. Departments that provide services through contracts shall ensure that such contractors deliver their services in compliance with this policy.
This policy applies to the presentation of information whether it is from a web page or a web application on the Internet.
Policy for Web Accessibility
It shall be the policy of Glynn County to make all reasonable efforts to ensure that the website is accessible to all users. Glynn County recognizes the importance of making its e-government services available to the largest possible audience. Glynn County will strive to meet the accessibility standards using the guidelines in the Accessibility of State and Local Government Websites to People with Disabilities which can be found at website http://www.ada.gov/websites2.htm.
It is the responsibility of the agencies, departments and offices to become familiar with the County guidelines for achieving these standards and to apply these standards in designing, creating and updating any official Glynn County website or when adding content to existing pages.
Effective Date of this Policy
Effective date for this policy is Jan. 14, 2010.
Limitations of this Policy
While this policy does provide the guidelines for individuals with disabilities to access Web-based information, this policy cannot anticipate every accessibility need due to known limitations of existing technology. While every effort will be made, it is understood that creating accessible formats for some historical documentation and graphical renderings maintained by the County may be technologically unfeasible. The material presented in the web site can be in formats that do not lend themselves to modification for accessibility access. Such formats can include maps, tables, charts, photographs, drawings, image files, and PDF files. Where possible and practical, the County will provide a text description of the material. There may be other circumstances, independent of technology, which may limit accessibility of County websites.
As a convenience to our visitors, we may provide links from within our web site to other web sites where related information may be found that may be of interest. If you link to any of these external web sites, please be aware that these sites may not be designed with accessibility features in mind and may not follow the specific accessibility features that Glynn County has adopted. Links to external sites are provided solely at the discretion of the County and may be revised at any time.
