Metropolitan Planning Committees (MPO)

MPO Policy Committee
The MPO operates under the policy direction of the MPO Policy Committee, which includes representatives appointed by the following organizations:

The MPO Policy Committee meets approximately six times each year, normally in the months of February, April, June, August, October, and December. Meetings are held in the second floor meeting room at the Harold Pate Building, 1725 Reynolds Street in Brunswick. Meeting notices and agendas are posted in the calendar section of this web site. These meetings are not currently shown on Cable TV.

The MPO Policy Committee receives input from two standing committees: the Technical Coordinating Committee and the Citizen Advisory Committee.

Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC)
The Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC) includes technical representatives of various organizations .
The Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) is made up of volunteer citizens interested in transportation issues. In addition, the Committee includes a representative of each of the two Glynn County Planning Commissions.

The Technical Coordinating Committee and the Citizen Advisory Committee normally meet six times a year, usually about ten days before the meeting of the MPO Policy Committee. Meetings are normally held in the third floor meeting room at the Harold Pate Building, 1725 Reynolds Street in Brunswick. Meeting notices and agendas are posted in the calendar section of this web site. These meetings are not currently shown on Cable TV.

Citizen participation is an important part of the transportation planning process and is guided by federal and state rules. In addition to the Citizen Advisory Committee, the process includes public workshops and hearings as means to disseminate information about activities and decisions that are made with respect to transportation. The MPO follows principles and procedures outlined in the Public Participation Plan.
