What is Alternative Dispute Resolution?

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a process whereby a neutral third person called a mediator acts to encourage and facilitate the resolution of a dispute between two or more parties.

The purpose is to open lines of communication and to explore all possibilities of settlement in order to resolve the dispute.

The role of the mediator is to help the parties analyze the issues and generate alternatives for a mutually agreeable and voluntary settlement.
